SCARIFICATIONS
Dominique Mulhem développe une suite de concepts étonnants, suite, analyse, actualisation, revisitation aucun de ces termes n\'est faux mais aucun n\'est vrai, le choix le plus approprié serait réflexion. Réflexion comme retour sur la pensée afin d\'examiner plus à fond puis Réflexion comme une réfraction pour franchir une autre vitesse de propagation de l\'histoire de l\'art . Il soumet l\'œuvre d\'art à un infini déplacement dans l\'espace et le temps. Dans les années 80 ses Portraits d\'Artistes projetaient peintres et sculpteurs entre passé et futur offrant par les hologrammes une vision tridimensionnelle. Dans les années 90 de son musée imaginaire , Pierre Restany écrivait: \" Des créatures de rêve devant une peinture de rêve ! devant ! c\'est plutôt \"Dans\" que je devrais dire, car mon oeil s\'est avéré incapable de faire la part des choses, d\'effacer cette vision simultanée, d\'en séparer les deux éléments\".Dans les années 2000 Les Zones, voyages intemporels dans les mots et les phrases du poème de Guillaume Apollinaire. Chaque décennie Mulhem nous fait partager sa vision du monde. Aujourd\'hui ses scarifications nous interpellent sur différentes caractéristiques de notre société face à la culture standardisée en objet de grande consommation. Entre nos désirs secrets de mutilation du regard sur l\'œuvre et la scarification sociale qu\'elle soit ethnique, tribale ou post moderne, ces incisions sur la peau de la toile signifient une appartenance révélée au monde le l\'art en ouvrant un nouvel espace, une aération pour un besoin de respirer à nouveau. Toute l\'oeuvre de Mulhem a le même fil conducteur: le concept de la vision simultanée.

Dominique Mulhem develops a sequence of amazing concepts, sequence, analysis, actualization, continuation, reinterpretation, these words are not completely false and then they are not completely correct ,the most appropriate one should be reflection. Reflection, thought process which allows to explore but also Reflection or rather refraction which facilitates the propagation of Art history. Mulhem subjects the work of art to an infinite spectrum of spatial and time changes. In the Eighties, through the use of holograms his Portraits of Artists set painters and sculptors into a three dimensional space between past and future. In the Nineties, his imaginary museum was quoted by Pierre Restany: “Dreamy creatures in front of a painting ! in front of! I should say “In” since my eye is unable to sort things out, to void this simultaneous vision and discriminate between its two elements”. In the years 2000, Les Zones invited us to travel into Guillaume Apollinaire\'s poem of words and sentences. Each decade is an occasion for Mulhem to reinvent his understanding of the world. With Scarifications we get a glance at aspects of our society in relation with mass produced or standardized objects. The works shown in Scarifications enhance our secret desire to transform/maim ourselves and see beyond the paintings and beyond the representations of social markings whether ethnic, tribal or post modern, these cuts on the canvas skin of paintings belong to the world of art because they open up a new space, an airhole which allows us breathe again. We can see that the driving force behind all of Mulhem\'s paintings is the principle of simultaneous vision .
